BLUEFEATHER SCHOOL OF ENGLISH

The Bluefeather School of English is a 206 year-old Georgian house in a residential area in one of the oldest parts of Dublin, retaining much of the charm and intimacy of a family home with a garden. That is why our students of English feel comfortable from the day they arrive. It is situated in Monkstown on the coast of Dublin Bay, about fifteen minutes by electric train (DART) from the heart of Dublin city. All of our host-families live close to the school and we are also close to the sea and to the magnificent countryside of County Wicklow.

Established in 1983 and recognised by the Irish Department of Education, we specialise in English for adults, 1:1 and in small groups, from all over the world. You can book an english course for as short as a week or as long as fifty weeks if you wish!

Our English school (built as a holiday home in 1798) is small, intimate and very international. We offer a range of both group and private English courses. Our group classes are restricted to a maximum of 9 people to enable you to enhance your accuracy and increase your fluency in English in a very short period of time. We also offer intensive 1:1 English courses for the busy executive and run group and private English courses for adults at all levels.

DUBLIN LANGUAGE INSTITUTE

Our English language institute is housed in an elegant Georgian building with gardens in a fashionable tree-lined street a short walk from the city centre. We place emphasis on quality and on attention to detail. We provide a wide range of English courses, some leading to internationally recognised qualifications: Cambridge, TOEFL etc. In addition, you can now take - at 2 weeks' notice - a newly-designed test (The Test of Interactive English) which tests your speaking and writing skills.

Our students of English are prepared for the most widely-recognised examinations, for example, 'Cambridge', which has five levels: Key English Test, Preliminary English Test, First Certificate, Advanced and Proficiency. We will test you to ascertain which of the above you should prepare for. Registration for the examinations is about 10 weeks before the examination dates in December and June. However, we do not regard our task as completed at the end of class. In the summer months, in particular, we organize afterclass activities to expose students to other aspects of Irish life. In addition, inter-school activities, for example, excursions and quizzes are organised.

Host Families: Many of our students of English prefer to be accommodated with Irish host families where they can maximise their exposure to the language. They are also exposed to Irish culture in the everyday sense. Such host families are carefully vetted. Host families are encouraged to integrate students into their family life including occasional trips in and around the city to social and sports events.
