TANDEM Berlin is the place! Our school, founded in 1983 in West-Berlin, is today based in Prenzlauer Berg (East-Berlin), undoubtedly Berlin´s most interesting quarter and only a stone´s throw away from the historical centre, Mitte.

Our friendly and qualified team of teachers and small groups with a maximum of 10 students make it possible for you to improve your German quickly and effectively in a relaxed and communicative environment, with other students from around the world.

We offer German intensive classes, certificate courses (Zertifikat Deutsch, Mittelstufenprüfung ZMP, DSH-preparation) and evening classes. And your TANDEM exchange partner will help you understand us better and show you some places of interest.

Attend one of our regular year-round German courses, or join us for our summer intensive programme. Either way, Berlin´s resources - its universities, its vibrant arts and entertainment scene, and its many recreational possibilities - will all be waiting. TANDEM BIELEFELD

Tandem Bielefeld e.V. was founded in order to develop modern ideas regarding foreign language classes and intercultural exchanges. At Tandem Bielefeld high quality German teaching is assured by qualified, dedicated native German speakers who not only use their experience but also make learning a foreign language enjoyable. A typical characteristic for our relatively small school is the individual attention and the friendly atmoshere where one feels quickly at home.

Participants from all over the world and our school’s personal, friendly atmosphere combine to make the learning interesting and varied. Small groups (maximum 12 participants) mean that everyone’s interests can be met. All the German courses (Beginners I, II, III and Intermediary) take place from 8.30-12.00 a.m. in our pleasant, sunny classrooms in the city centre - only 5 minutes away from the main shopping area.

In our classes, solid grammar teaching and creative learning are brought together. For us, the priority is that you speak a lot and develop a feeling for the German language. Our staff are specially trained and highly experienced teachers of German as a Foreign Language who genuinely enjoy helping you get to know their language, culture and country. CASA BREMEN

Bremen, where the German language is spoken in its purest form, is situated on the river Weser in the North of Germany. Although it is a city with 600,000 inhabitants, mixing a unique blend of Hanseatic tradition and modern development, it also possesses the friendly and familiar quality of a smaller town, where one can feel at ease and make friends easily.

You will find plenty to do in your free time, whether walking in one of its lovely parks, admiring the friendly architecture or partaking the delights of its café culture, pub quarters and squares. Bremen's closeness to the sea also makes it an ideal base to take off from for excursions to the North Sea islands, to Hamburg, Lubeck or the Luneberg Moors. And to round off your weekend programme, Holland and Denmark are just around the corner.

In CASA Bremen we run intensive German courses throughout the year at 5 different levels, each being compatible with the course before. All German courses are 8 weeks in duration with an option to attend a following preparation course for TestDaF exam (6 weeks).

Furthermore, we offer Summer courses in July, August and September. Each course lasts 3 to 4 weeks. In order to meet the needs of individual students, we have compiled and developed our own teaching material. Students study at a level appropriate to the score achieved in the proficiency test. Aim: The main emphasis of the lessons is on speaking and listening skills, based on a solid proficiency in German grammar. Therefore, afternoon revision lessons are offered additionally twice a week to students who want to refresh their basic German grammar.

TANDEM COLGNE

TANDEM Cologne offers German courses at all levels, from Beginner to Advanced. We place a special emphasis on using efficient and creative teaching methods while remaining flexible and open to the wishes and needs of our students. In addition to using the most professional teaching methods, the motto of our qualified teachers is: learning German should be fun!

Small groups, communicative lessons as well as the friendly and pleasant atmosphere at our school will make it a pleasure for you to learn German. And so that you come into close contact with the German language and culture outside the classroom, we will provide you with a full cultural programme, private accommodation and a so-called Tandem: Enjoy the wide variety of cultural activities on offer, live with people from Cologne for a couple of weeks, and discover with your Tandem partner the secrets of this fascinating city at the heart of Europe!

German Courses at TANDEM Cologne run year round and are available at all levels, Beginners to Advanced. Classes consist of 20 lessons of 45 minutes per week. You'll always learn in small classes, usually in groups of five to ten students. Starting dates (except for Beginners) are every Monday. Minimal participation time is 2 weeks. Students with some knowledge of German usually can be accommodated at short notice.

TANDEM FRANKFURT

The "zentrum für deutsche sprache und kultur" is located in a quiet but central part of Frankfurt. Means of public transport will take you to the city centre in a few minutes. A large shopping mile called "Zeil" offers many opportunities for shopping, socialising, and browsing. It is located a few steps from the historical centre, famous for the City Hall, Paulskirche, and Cathedral. Just across the river Main, museums invite you to up-to-date exhibitions.

The "zentrum" cooperates with language schools throughout Germany and abroad, offering full year programs at reasonable tuition fees. Our German programmes are officially recognized and certified. There are intensive programmes for all instruction levels, beginners' courses start each month. Starting to learn a new language may be difficult. With a step by step schedule, the "zentrum" places students in various level groups where German language skills are acquired.

Our instruction is based on building German vocabulary and grammar skills by means of working out practical situations of everyday life and topics of common interest. In class, we use textbooks as well as audio-visual devices. Our German language programmes invite you to discover the German language with a touch of indispensable humour.

The classes take place in groups of 10 to 16 students. We offer all levels: from beginners' to advanced. Compact classes are designed for students who wish to study the German language on a regular basis in the course of several months. Our classes will develop your linguistic comprehension in terms of reading and listening, you will train your communicational abilities as well as phonetics and your grammar skills. You can combine compact classes with an additional programme. Every wednesday there are cultural activities and linguistic training programmes. Cultural activities programmes are free (except for tickets, fare, admission to museums, etc.)

SPRACHZENTRUM EINE WELT - GOTTINGEN

The University town of Göttingen is located in the heart of Germany, in an area where the purest German is spoken. That is why in your host families and flat-shares you will hear perfect "high German", free of local accents and dialects. This facilitates learning and makes it more effective.

Our school, the Sprachzentrum Eine Welt is located in the pedestrian aerea of the historical centre of the town. You will find lots of coffee bars, pubs, discotheques, theatres and cinemas just around the corner. Also most of the bus routes stop outside our door. The Language Centre has a friendly atmosphere with highly motivated and qualified teachers.

The school's philosophy is based on thoroughly student-oriented teaching methods which ensure lively and effective teaching of the German language and therefore fun for everyone involved. We have developed and refined a method that combines traditional grammar-based learning techniques with a game-oriented approach, one which makes language acquisition a pleasure and which is also designed to spark interest in a wide range of related subjects. It is our aim to make our students understand Germany by learning German, its language, and our school is intended to be an international meeting point that promotes intercultural exchange. To achieve this our teachers always integrate the most modern concepts of language teaching into their lessons.

Our teachers as well as our administrational staff always assist the participants: Whether a student merely wants to chat or whether he needs linguistic advice or assistance when planning his or her free-time or excursions, there is always somebody there to ask. This relaxed atmosphere enables the teachers and students to become friends: And "Learning German with friends" is more fun and much more effective. TANDEM HAMBURG

So you would like to take a German course with us in Hamburg? That's an excellent idea! At TANDEM Hamburg we offer intensive German courses, certificate courses (Zertifikat Deutsch, Mittelstufenprüfung and TestDaF), evening classes on business German, phonetics and spelling as well as weekend seminars on job application training. You will meet people from Europe, America, Africa, Asia, Australia, and of course us, the locals! Your TANDEM exchange partner will help you understand us better.

There are hundreds of things to do in the afternoons. In the summer we organise outings and excursions to places of interest, we throw parties, take you on visits, cultural attractions and exhibitions, and show you why the people of Hamburg like their town so much. And Hamburg doesn't close down at night! There are many theatres and cinemas; the club scene is big here, there's live music everywhere as well as dance halls and discos for all tastes. Apropos taste: A 'Hamburger' is not really a traditional Hamburg dish, although you will find it here, too. But do try the traditional 'Aalsuppe' and 'Labskaus' or have a 'Bismarck herring' at the fishmarket on early Sunday morning after partying the Saturday away.

5 - 10 participants, Monday - Friday 10.00 a.m.- 1.15 p.m. or 1.45 p.m. - 5.00 p.m. German courses include 20 lessons of 45 minutes each per week. Levels: Elementary; Beginners: 1,2 & 3; Intermediate: 1 & 2. Including cultural offers, in the summer (July and August), an extensive cultural programme to accompany your class.

TANDEM MUNICH

15 years of German and foreign language training, our experience is your key to success. We place great importance on creating a personal and relaxed learning environment. At TANDEM Munich we think your learning should be fun as well as successful! We feel it is important to offer communicative and lively lessons in which the students practice all four language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) and where grammar is explained in a way which is easy to understand.

Your personal interests and wishes come first! We teach German in small groups which are interactive, motivating and cheerful. You are continuously encouraged to speak German. We teach with modern course books and additional authentic texts. We are here to help.

We run Semi-Intensive German Courses (12 units / week), Intensive German Courses (20 units / week) and Special Intensive Courses (24 units / week) during the whole year, except for July and August. In this months you can take the Summer German Courses which incorporates our varied leisure programme. We offer also preparatory courses for people at the end of Mittelstufe II/III (upper-intermediate) Level: the TestDaF certificate - provides the universally recognised proof of the language skills required for admission to any German University. TANDEM München is an accredited centre for the preparation and holding of the TestDaF examination.
